About Us

This WordPress blog was created as one of many for a WAC class in the summer 2011.  A group of us are all creating blogs to share our reading responses, our WAC thinking, ideas for additional readings and more. We’ll subscribe to each other’s blogs and write to each other all summer… about WAC.

We have a private course site managed by our university for more personalized communication (protection matters), and you’ll see that we have mostly used names for our blogs that don’t say exactly who we are. We know, of course. Sort of like being a super in the Incredibles.

I’m the teacher here and the director of compositions–but I’m also the student. I’ve blogged on and off, but never really mastered it. I wrote a LOT for the web years ago, but never really worked on the back end–I wrote the words and then handed them off to someone else… mostly. So while I have a blog that I’ve been writing in a lot this year, I am still new to this sort of writing.

I can’t speak for all my students, but I know a few are new to this. And that’s great. Through their newness, we’ll all learn a lot. A few students are old hands at blogging. They will be our mentors. Together we will create a blogosphere of our own that will facilitate our learning in ways that I cannot know.

Now that’s why I love teaching. I can have a plan, but I never know what I’m going to learn today, tomorrow, next week, next month.
